Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference' - Sir Winston Churchill
A brief for LogicaCMG Delegates at Chartwell - NT property
Introduction
The National Trust has been working with Strategis to develop experiential learning options into bespoke training programmes for corporate clients. This relationship has proved to be very successful in terms of mutual benefit to clients and host. By taking real life operational needs from a multifaceted voluntary sector delegates are involved in a range of diverse, challenging and rewarding projects that provide a unique learning journey whilst being beneficial to both the local community and The National Trust.
Context
This particular experiential event will be set at Chartwell the former home of the BBC's 'Greatest Briton' Sir Winston Churchill. Containing an unrivalled collection of Churchill's painting, photographs and memorabilia each room remains very much like it was when he lived there. The house, garden and landscape are a fascinating demonstration of where he drew his inspiration.
The Trust believe that exploring and engaging with historic places, natural landscapes and beautiful objects give meaning and value to everyone's lives and improves their quality of life.
One of their aims is to ensure that the site works as an educational experience for the visitors and they leave having had a memorable experience in five key learning areas:
Intellectual, Emotional, Behavioural, Attitude and Fun.
The Project
To release the potential of this historic property, Chartwell are looking for you to create a learning plan to engage and excite interest and promote enjoyment to the visitors.
- Create a SWOT analysis of the learning experience at the property.
- Interview a cross section of the staff and volunteers tapping into their personal Knowledge of Chartwell. Uncover the stories, anecdotes, facts and emotions that will best connect the visitors with the place. Using these work out main themes and learning outcomes, draw up a priority list.
- Design and implement a questionnaire to test the themes.
- Work with identified parties e.g. local schools to gain their input on how to further promote Chartwell as a learning experience.
- Deliver a report and an on site presentation to LogicaCMG, Strategis and the National Trust Management.
